About Us
OUR HISTORYFounded in 1981 as the Daily Bread Food Bank, Feeding South Florida has been working to reduce hunger by reducing waste. We solicit donations of food from a variety of sources – farmers, processors, grocers and restaurants among others – and distribute it through a network of not-for-profit agencies including daycare centers, homeless shelters, residential homes for the physically and mentally challenged, assisted living facilities for the elderly, youth programs, soup kitchens and emergency food pantries. The result? Feeding South Florida distributes approximately 2 million pounds of food each month to hungry South Floridians, including children and the elderly, the unemployed and the working poor, the disabled, the homeless, and victims of natural disasters, illness and violence. MISSION & VALUE STATEMENTSFeeding South Florida's mission is to feed South Florida's hungry in order to improve their lives. We do this by distributing food and groceries through our network of not-for-profit organizations, educating the public about the issue, and engaging our community in the fight to end hunger. BOARD OF DIRECTORSThe Board of Directors at Feeding South Florida is a committed, passionate, diversified group of citizens dedicated to the mission of ending hunger in South Florida. |
