WINN-DIXIE AND CUSTOMERS JOIN FORCES TO DONATE MORE THAN 34,115 POUNDS OF FOOD TO NEEDY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN SOUTH FLORIDA

WHAT:           With one in five children in America not knowing when they will eat their next meal, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., will present Feeding South Florida with a check representing 34,115 pounds of food to fight hunger in South Florida. The combined donation by the grocer, its customers and vendors is enough to feed more than 20,551 meals for our neighbors in need through the Winn-Dixie Hunger Relief program.

INFO:             The Winn-Dixie Hunger Relief program encouraged customers to easily donate through tear pads/scan sheets at store registers and by purchasing specially marked Winn-Dixie brand products. All dollars raised from Nov. 7 through Dec. 24 will benefit 16 local Feeding America-affiliated food banks, including Feeding South Florida (www.feedingsouthflorida.org) to provide nutritious, fresh foods for communities across Winn-Dixie’s operating area.
